How to Choose the Right Paintball Gun After Playing Rentals at Extreme Paintball

What we tell players who are ready to move on from rental gear

If you have played paintball a few times using rental gear and are starting to think about buying your own paintball gun, you are not alone. This is one of the most common questions we hear at Extreme Paintball.

Rentals are designed to be durable, simple, and easy for first time players. Once you have a few days on the field, it is natural to want something lighter, smoother, and more comfortable to play with. The key is knowing what actually matters when you make that jump.

Start by understanding what rentals are built for

Rental paintball guns are made to survive heavy use. They are tough, reliable, and easy to maintain, but they are not designed for performance or comfort.

When players move on from rentals, the biggest differences they notice with their own gear are weight, shot consistency, trigger feel, and overall control. That does not mean you need the most expensive setup. It just means you should choose something designed for players, not fleets.

Focus on reliability and ease of use first

After rentals, the best paintball gun is not the fastest or most advanced one. It is the one that works every time you pull the trigger.

Look for a marker that is known for reliability, simple maintenance, and consistent performance. A smooth shooting gun that works all day will always be more fun than something complicated that spends half the day in the staging area.

Think about how and where you play

Most players who are coming off rentals are playing recreational paintball, walk on games, or casual group outings. You do not need tournament level features for that style of play.

Comfort, air efficiency, and consistency matter far more than firing modes or extreme rates of fire. A good beginner to intermediate setup will feel like a massive upgrade compared to rental gear.

Use a buyer’s guide before making a decision

We always recommend that players take a little time to learn about the different types of paintball guns before buying. Understanding the differences between entry level markers, mechanical options, and electronic setups helps you avoid spending money twice.

Since the end of 2016, we have been working on a specially formulated ball just for the Central Valley Weather. This will be something that we can tweak for those hot summer days as well as when the weather gets cold in the winter; all while still maintaining the same quality. Extreme Paintball has always been committed to bringing you a variety of quality paintballs at an affordable price. Our custom ball has a higher grade two-toned metallic shell that will give you a better quality paintball with increased shell fragility and a brighter fill.

With this new addition, Extreme Paintball will be transitioning over to field/store paint only starting July 15th, 2017. This means that the park will only be allowing paintballs that have been purchased from the park itself or the store location. With this transition the store will begin to carry a larger selection of paintballs for self-equip players to choose from. To confirm purchase from the store, all boxes of paintballs will come with an “Extreme Paintball Authorized Paintballs” sticker on the box [see photo below]. The GI Sportz Custom Blend ball will not need a sticker because the ball itself has been created for Extreme Paintball. If you are caught using unauthorized paintballs they will be confiscated and held until the end of the day for you.

Extreme Paintball Park is now taking applications for REFEREES.

Part-Time; Referee/Instructor of paintball games. Must be over 16, dependable, fair, outgoing, and have a strong attention to detail, available weekends and have reliable transportation. If still in school a work permit will be required.

Extreme Paintball Park will provide training.

Park Referee/Instructor Responsible for:

– Following directions of Manger and Head Referee

– Ensuring Customers have a fun and safe experience

– Reporting any potential problems or situations

– Enforcing field rules

– Keeping the playing field and park clean

– Cleaning equipment

– Checking all players for appropriate wrist bands

– Insuring players have barrel sleeves on and masks down

Wage scale starts at $10.00 per hour.

Always looking for Players to Play:
* 3-Man Beginner Division 6 (Age 11 and up) This must be your first or second tournament season
* 5-Man ‘RaceTo’ Division 3, 4 and 5, CEPL and UPL squads

Approximate player cost each event…
* 3-Man Beginner CEPL $120 ish each player
* 5-Man ‘RaceTo-2’ CEPL $200 ish each player

Approximate practice costs are around $60 per person, that include entry and paint. All teams have different schedules, some practice two to three times a month in the season. A season is Feb to Nov.

Pricing is to give you a rough idea so that you understand the level of commitment required. When you join a team, your teammates count on you, so we want everyone to understand up front that there is a time and financial commitment required before you join.

For those of you that are students, we ask that you maintain your grades so that you don’t miss events or practices due to school issues.

Along with organizing and overseeing this program, Extreme Paintball will be offering sponsorship opportunities in the form of discounted entry at the Park, Paint discounts, Store discounts and package deals on new gear like pants, jerseys etc.
